Poppy’s Room refresh

Wow how time flies!! We said goodbye to the crib and gave Poppy a “big girl” room!

When it was time for Poppy to get a big bed, I knew I wanted to keep some of the same elements her room had before! I kept the floral wallpaper and blush tones, which inspired the rest of my design choices. Finding a balance between creating something youthful yet elevated and stylish, was essential in the process. Layered with textures and patterns, this room is one Poppy will be able to grow in for years to come!

The best way to start this process, a mood board!

Testing out options is the only way to feel confident about the end result! There’s no “what if’s” or “buts” in this process, since we carefully thought about every option. During any design review, we show clients multiple options and adjust them according to their personal style! In this case, Poppy’s choice was the canopy bed!

Which one is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below!

VISUALIZE REALITY with a rendering…

Thanks to our resources, we were able to create renderings for Poppy’s room! It was fun getting Poppy’s input so she could imagine it too!

Design Considerations…

In Poppy’s room, I started by considering the elements in the room that were going to remain unchanged and built upon it from there. The wallpaper, table lamps, mirror, flush mount and window treatments were the foundation to the design. As a lot of elements were remaining the same, the focus was on larger furniture pieces and textiles.

One of the biggest goals was to create a space she would be able to enjoy for years to come. Selecting neutral staple pieces makes it easier to make adjustments over time as her interests evolve. We invested in the larger furniture pieces - The bed, dresser, nightstands and rug.

Finishing touches include fresh cut flowers on her nightstand, ottomans at the foot of the bed and an oversized vase with large botanicals on the dresser. The artwork over the bed is a finishing touch that perfectly fits between the wall paneling and the top of the canopy.

Big smiles for the big girl!

Poppy couldn’t be happier with her new room! It’s a bittersweet, but exciting transition for our family and we look forward to her growing into her new room!
